Tratamiento con terapia biológica en enfermedades reumatológicas y su relación con tuberculosis

RESUMEN
La introducción de la terapia biológica dirigida contra el factor de necrosis tumoral como tratamiento de ciertas enfermedades del tejido conectivo, como artritis reumatoide y las espondiloartropatías seronegativas en el campo de la reumatología, psoriasis en la dermatología y enfermedad inflamatoria intestinal en gastroenterología ha dado pauta para cambiar la evolución de la enfermedad y tener una alternativa para pacientes resistentes a la terapia convencional. En varios estudios ha demostrado su efectividad; sin embargo, desde la introducción de la terapia biológica con anticuerpos antifactor de necrosis tumoral (anti-FNT) se ha reportado un aumento en la incidencia de tuberculosis pulmonar y extrapulmonar, por lo que es importante realizar un adecuado protocolo de estudio previo al inicio del tratamiento con medicamentos anti-TNF para identificar a los pacientes con tuberculosis latente y disminuir el riesgo de reactivación de la enfermedad.
