Prevalencia, severidad y extensión de periodontitis crónica

RESUMEN
El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar la prevalencia, severidad y extensión de la periodontitis crónica y la relación que presentan éstas con respecto a la edad, sexo, estado civil, años de escolaridad y nivel de ingreso mensual. La prevalencia fue del 67.2%, en promedio la severidad fue de 2.29 mm y el porcentaje de extensión de sitios afectados fue del 55.70%. Se observaron diferencias significativas en cuanto a la prevalencia con la edad y la escolaridad (p ‹ 0.000, p ‹ 0.05 respectivamente). Así mismo la severidad y extensión mostraron una correlación positiva estadísticamente significativa con la edad (p ‹ 0.000, p ‹ 0.000 respectivamente), los varones presentaron mayor promedio de severidad que las mujeres (p = 0.038), referente a la escolaridad a mayor educación menor severidad y extensión de periodontitis (p ‹ 0.009, p ‹ 0.002 respectivamente); presentaron menor severidad los sujetos que percibían por lo menos un salario mensual p = 0.0241, el estado civil y la ocupación no presentaron diferencias estadísticamente significativas.
