RESUMEN
Se discute la conveniencia de fresar o no el canal medular al insertar un clavo centromedular, señalando las indicaciones y los inconvenientes para cada uno de estos procedimientos. Se mencionan complicaciones que erróneamente se han asociado con éstos y que más bien son atribuibles a la técnica con la que se inserta el clavo. Concluye que estos procedimientos no deben verse como antagónicos; ambos son útiles, pero se debe analizar su indicación en cada caso para obtener mejores resultados.
