Dolor en VIH/SIDA: Reporte de un caso y revisión bibliográfica

RESUMEN
Se estima que el 0.6% de la población mundial padece VIH/SIDA (VIH, virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana. SIDA, síndrome de inmunodeficiencia adquirida). En México, se calcula que esta enfermedad afecta al 0.3% de la población adulta. En estos pacientes, el dolor es un síntoma frecuentemente observado y su prevalencia es del 30 al 90%. El tratamiento del dolor en estos enfermos tiene consideraciones específicas; ya que las múltiples manifestaciones clínicas de la enfermedad, condicionan una amplia gama de síndromes dolorosos. No obstante a que la «escalera analgésica propuesta por la OMS» ha sido considerada una herramienta útil en el abordaje analgésico, una elevada proporción de pacientes, recibe una analgesia deficiente. El presente trabajo, presenta un caso clínico acerca de una manifestación dolorosa atípica de la enfermedad y una revisión bibliográfica sobre el dolor en el enfermo con VIH/SIDA.
