RESUMEN
Introducción: Las actividades informativo-promocionales, especialmente las derivadas de insaciables intereses lucrativos, influyen el universo cultural con un diverso y nocivo impacto que hoy, asumido inercialmente, impide a las comunidades distinguirlo, merced a la inadecuada visualización de la salud mental comunitaria que difunden. Se adiciona a su interés mercantil una grave psicopatología y la manipulación de los vectores de socialización. Ante tal fenómeno, los miembros de la sociedad, inequitativamente preparados para percatarse de tan deletérea influencia, tampoco están aptos para erigir una razonable defensa. Los grupos científicos y su representación social promueven educación para la salud y sus aspectos psicosociales: educación sexual, contra la violencia y el consumo de drogas, y actividades en favor de la familia. El analfabetismo científico contribuye al insuficiente manejo de la salud, por lo que precisa adecuar la información científica y su apropiada comunicación social, además del sistemático esfuerzo analítico del impacto del
mass media sobre poblaciones vulnerables, que por tal influencia exhiben conductas antisociales, autoagresividad/heteroagresividad y demás comportamientos “de búsqueda de sensaciones intensas” (deportes extremos, patrones de consumo abusivo y/o dependencia de psicotrópicos, conducción de vehículos a alta velocidad, promiscuidad y violencia sexual, portación de armas, robos en tiendas, vandalismo, etc.), con miras a aplacar estados emocionales derivados del vacío existencial, frustración e insatisfacción vital, desesperación, enajenación, caos y tendencias suicidas de muchos miembros de ciertas subculturas juveniles.
Conclusión: La responsabilidad de la educación y la salud mental de la población infantojuvenil reclama una participación más enérgica y decidida de todos quienes formamos la sociedad.
