Enfermedad por SARS-COV-2 en el paciente pediátrico

RESUMEN
La enfermedad por SARS-COV-2 (covid-19) es un padecimiento de reciente aparición que ha afectado catastróficamente
a gran parte de la población mundial. Los casos en niños representan un pequeño porcentaje del global. En
general, en los niños el curso de la enfermedad es leve, a diferencia de los adultos, salvo en aquellos niños que
presentan alguna comorbilidad; se han reportado casos de forma grave del síndrome inflamatorio multisistémico.
El diagnóstico se realiza con base en las manifestaciones clínicas, las características radiológicas y la detección
del agente mediante reacción en cadena de la polimerasa de muestra con hisopado faríngeo y nasofaríngeo. El
manejo es sintomático y de soporte. Las medidas preventivas que se han implementado, si bien han sido útiles
para frenar la transmisión, también tienen repercusiones en la salud psicoemocional de los niños.
