Nevoid Hyperkeratosis of the Areola and Nipple: A Case Report

ABSTRACT

Nevoid hyperkeratosis of the areola and nipple is a rare and scarcely known dermatosis, with less than 100 cases reported in the literature. It usually affects women in the second or third decade of life and its etiology is unknown. It is characterized by hyperkeratotic hyperpigmented plaques in nipple and/or areola, asymptomatic, with little therapeutic response. We present a 17-year-old female with diagnosis of nevoid hyperkeratosis of the areola, unilateral and of prepubertal onset, with partial response to cryosurgery.
