ABSTRACT
The course of major depressive disorder is a disabling illness, which requires a prompt approach to prevent your symptoms from worsening. Its pathophysiology is explained by different theories, although none of them is definitive, it is important to know them to understand their approach. The diagnosis can present a challenge for the handler since there are comorbidities, other pathologies and even medications that can hinder the correct diagnosis. The treatment of major depressive disorder seeks the remission of symptoms and studies have shown that it can be pharmacological, psychotherapeutic or a combination of both; always individually suited to the needs of the person with depressive disorder.REFERENCES
