ABSTRACT
Objective: To discuss the management of severe perianal trauma with lesion of the anal sphincter by means of primary repair and loop colostomy through laparoscopy.Setting: Third level health care hospital.
Description of cases: We analyzed two cases of traumatic lesion of the anal sphincter with associated lesion of extraperitoneal rectum handled by means of primary closure and fecal diversion with loop colostomy through laparoscopy. Both patients evolved satisfactorily without complications associated to the procedures and a very adequate functional result.
Conclusion: We consider that the results obtained in our patients with the described methodology, especially in relation to anal incontinence, provide a viable option for the treatment of this pathology in selected patients.
