ABSTRACT
Auditory neuropathy is a type of deafness in Mexico that is not early diagnosed. Auditory
neuropathy is the presence of otoacoustic emissions with absent or diminished auditory
evoked potentials. That is, a functional cochlea with a nerve with poor function.
México’s health problem begins with a neonatal hearing screening that only includes
otoacoustic emissions; therefore, the loss of nerve conduction of the auditory stimulus
is not assessed. In this study, a literature review of auditory neuropathy in Mexico was
carried out and the impact on the country’s public health is analyzed.
