The instrument of data collection consisted on a spreadsheet with the established indicators of the profile. It was applied descriptive statistics. Results: From 4,444 files: 59.9% female; 33% age-group from 61 to 70 years old; 87.4% married; 84.5% complete primary school; 56.6% dedicated to housework; 54.4% less than 10 years of evolution; hyperglycemia 54.9%; nephropathy 8%; neuropathy and retinopathy 3.8%; hypertension 54.4% and obesity 47.1%. Conclusions: The profile indicated predictive family factors like: sedentary, obesity and co-morbidity. More frequently complication: nephropathy. The time of evolution of the DM with prevalence smaller than 10 years is an opportunity that allows to apply preventive strategies, with the vision of improving the quality of life and the medical care costs.
