ABSTRACT
In Mexico about 20,000 fractures of hip exist to the year, of which a high
percentage is solved for hemiarthroplasty of hip.
Objective. To compare clinic
and radiographic the reaming and not reaming acetabular in this type of surgery.
Material and methods. There were studied all the patients in whom they realized
of hemiarthroplasty hip among January from 1987 until December from 1996, meeting
a whole of 66 patients, of whom reamed the acetabulum in 25 and unreamed in 41.
Results. There was no significant difference in the clinic (Harris) not in the
radiographies (Sotelo-Garza and Charnley) nor at of six weeks, six months, one year,
two and three years (p = 0.06). The average of the qualifications of the test of
Harris improved in the course of time in both groups. The results in accordance
with the location of fracture showed that between more proximal it was the fracture
, better were the results in both groups.
Discussion. These results turn out to be
excellent, since patients were included only with appropriate indication and good
surgical skill, knowingly that the principal objective was to evaluate the pain
and the erosion acetabular caused by the implant.
