ABSTRACT
Auto-sensitization or auto-eczematization is a phenomenon in
which secondary acute dermatitis lesions develop with erythema
or eczema in locations other than the primary inflammatory
focus.
The reaction patterns vary from a generalized morbilliform
erythematous rash and in other cases urticaria-like eruption,
papular and petechial dermatosis, followed by an acute episode
of stasis dermatitis or others.
We present six clinical cases with auto-sensitization secondary
to stasis dermatitis in three female patients, one male patient,
and two young patients with a history of irritant contact
dermatitis. Epicutaneous tests were performed in all patients
except one, who did not attend the appointment. The clinical
auto-sensitization patterns found were the papular, maculopapular
and urticaria-like. In all cases there was clinical improvement
using: drying powders or topical and systemic steroids
according to the clinical situation and comorbidities.
