Application of Patricia Benner's Philosophy in nursing training

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Nursing develops actions for the caring of people, for which it requires knowledge, skills and abilities, aspects focused on in Patricia Benner's Philosophy.Objective: To describe the scientific literature reports regarding the application of Patricia Benner's Philosophy in the training of nursing professionals.
Methods: Document study based on the proposal by Taylor and Bogdan. The units of analysis were the original articles of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed review, review and reflection articles, whether in Spanish, English and Portuguese, without temporal restriction, free access to the full text, available in the databases PubMed, Science Direct, Nursing@ovid, CINAHL, Clinical key, CUIDEN, Lilacs, Ovid, Ebsco, Scielo, and the metasearch engine Google Scholar.
Conclusions: Benner's Philosophy has been applied in the design, development, execution and evaluation of nursing curricula in different parts of the world. Besides, its adaptation of hermeneutical phenomenology has been used in nursing research.
