ABSTRACT
Chondroblastoma is a rare benign tumor, characterized by the presence of abundant cellularity and relatively undifferentiated tissue consisting of rounded or polygonal cells, similar to chondroblasts, with sharp-edged borders by giant multinucleated osteoclastic type cells which are either isolated or in groups. It is one of the epiphyseal bone tumors that affect children and adolescents between 10 and 20 years old, predominating in the male gender in a 2:1 ratio. The sites of predilection are the epiphyses of the long bones; with the proximal humerus, the proximal tibia and the proximal femur being the most affected in that order. The case of a 14-year-old male patient with a diagnosis of proximal third chondroblastoma of the left tibia, initially treated with bone curettage at a first surgery and the application of methyl methacrylate in a particular clinic with a torpid evolution, presenting local tumor recurrence, contracture in knee flexion and pain being the reason why he decides to go to the Hospital del Niño de Toluca for evaluation, where after analysing him a surgical procedure was decided, it consisting of tumor resection in-bloc and placement of the unconventional tibial tumor endoprosthesis RC-9, the patient received medical care in March 2012.REFERENCES
