ABSTRACT
Transverse malocclusions are alterations of the occlusion, which occur in the horizontal plane. The crossbite is the characteristic sign of the transversal malocclusion, in turn crowding and dental protrusion may occur. If the dental position accompanies the skeleton, the cross bite will be present, but if the maxillary discrepancy is camouflaged, both compressed arches will be presented without the presence of a crossbite. Mulligan proposed the placement of accessory arches for the correction of transverse discrepancies, indicated for skeletal Class II patients with transverse collapse, as well as proinclined upper incisors and increased overjet. We present a case of a Class II patient with transverse deficiency in the area of premolars, treated with Mulligan's overlay arch; getting the correction of the dental Class II without the need for extractions, as well as the elimination of the transversal collapse of the maxilla and lip incompetence.REFERENCES
