ABSTRACT
The aim of the present study is to analyze the correlation between the anxi-ety levels of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) by clinical subtype and those of their parents. We evaluated 302 children from 7 to 12 years of age. To classify children with ADHD and control group, the questionnaire was applied to parents and teachers; "Diagnostic Criteria for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disor-der" adapted from the DSM-V. The manifest anxiety in the children was evaluated with the questionnaire Scale of Anxiety manifested in Children Revised (CMAS-R), the parents were applied the scale of anxiety of Hamilton (Hamilton Anxiety Scale, HAS). The results showed correlations between Physiological Anxiety in children with C-ADHD and their parents, (p = 0.01). In the Anxiety questionnaire, significant differ-ences were observed between parents with children with ADHD-C and parents with control children, in the following items: Tension, (p = 0.05), Anxious State (p = 0.05). The logistic regression analysis showed that clinical subtypes of ADHD in children were associated with anxiety in their parents, the clinical subtypes with the greatest significance were: ADHD-C (p = 0.0034); ADHD-Hip-Imp (p = 0.1629), ADHD-I (p = 0.001) and with less association, control group (p = 0.4851). Correlations were ob-served in the levels of anxiety between parents and children with ADHD-C and ADHD-H and a significant increase in anxiety levels of parents with children with ADHD com-pared to the parents of the Control group was present.
