ABSTRACT
The extraction of a tooth leads to future volume loss in the alveolar ridge, so after tooth extraction a procedure for alveolus preservation should be carried out to limit the resorption of the residual ridge and maximize the formation of bone tissue inside the alveolus. After being extracted, the tooth is regarded as dental waste; however, several studies have found that teeth have some components similar to those of bone and can be used as a new graft material. Here we present a case of alveolus preservation through application of autogenous dentine graft; we performed the procedure of crushing and sterilization of the tooth particles using the KometaBioSmart Dentin Grinder
®.
