ABSTRACT
Fluoride is a highly electronegative ion, mainly found in drinking water, salt and bottled beverages. Dental fluorosis is an enamel hypoplasia that occurs in the pre-and post-eruptive stages of the dental organ due to an excessive intake of fluoride.
Objective: To analyze and determine fluoride concentrations in drinking water in the municipality of Torreón, Coahuila.
Materials and Methods: The information was obtained from 90 existing wells in the sampling area, they were located according to the data provided by SIMAS Torreón. In addition, samples from 20 wells were collected in 2017.
Results: In Torreon’s water wells reported to 2017, an average of 0.40mg±0.12F / L was found. No significant differences were found in fluoride concentration from 2012 to 2017 (P = 0.30), none of the measurements exceeded the maximum concentration allowed.
