ABSTRACT
Objective: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate
in vitro the effect of Chlorhexidine gluconate at 0.12% in the adherence inhibition of
Streptococcus mutans with provisional restorative at different exposure times (8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48 hours).
Material and methods: The study was of experimental type, for comparison groups. Total of 120 samples of Autopolymerizing PMMA divided in six groups were used (experimental and control groups).
Results: No significant differences were found in medias of the first four groups (p › 0.05). The others showed significant difference between the experimental and control subgroups.
Conclusion: The results demonstrated that the adherence of
Streptococcus mutans to Autopolymerizing PMMA
in vitro is inhibited after several applications of Chlorhexidine gluconate at 0.12%.
