ABSTRACT
The preservation of fertility is an emerging field of gynecology, that is rapidly growing for the positive results it has achieved, in a short time. It consists of the application of medical, surgical and laboratory techniques to preserve the reproductive potential of both men and women. Initially planned for patients whose fertility was at risk from oncological treatments, it had had a boom in women who wanted to delay the biological clock of motherhood. Innovations such as vitrification of ovarian tissue are currently considered part of the palette of options, with a view to new technologies such as artificial ovary and sperm maturation
in vitro are still in experimentation. The knowledge of the health professional of these techniques will allow patients to have access to them, prior to their treatment they can go to reproductive specialist and evaluate the alternatives according to their case for the conservation of their reproductive potential.
