ABSTRACT
Super-oxidation solutions are commonly used in wound dressing; however, the effects of these on the angiogenesis of granulation tissue are scientifically unknown. We used six Mongrel dogs, to which under sedation and local anesthesia we inflicted six wounds of 6 x 4 cm on the back of each one and divided them into two groups: a control group (treated with physiological solution) and an experimental group (treated with Microdacyn
®). Cures were performed by a single person in a blinded manner every 72 hours for three weeks. We took punch biopsies on days 1, 6, 14 and 22, to identify vascular density and inflammation, by staining with hematoxylin and eosin. For the statistical analysis we used the SPSS program version 20.0 (the categorical variables were analyzed using the χ
2 test). In total there were 144 biopsies: 72 in each group. In the number of vessels, we did not find any significant differences between both groups in weeks 0, 1, 2 and 3, with p values of 0.710, 0.531, 0.362 and 0.487, respectively. In the amount of inflammation, we found no significant differences between both groups at weeks 0, 1 and 3, with p values of 0.146, 0.717 and 0.591, respectively, while in week two there was a significant difference, with p = 0.006. We conclude that in the angiogenesis between both groups we did not find a significant difference. Microdacyn
® has no effect of vascular neoformation of the granulation tissue compared with the physiological solution.
