ABSTRACT
This article presents the results of a research whose objective was to understand the emotions that emerge in the treatment of patients diagnosed with HIV / AIDS and their influence on adherence to treatment. Method: it was carried out from a qualitative, historical hermeneutic approach, in the E.S.E. La María Hospital in the city of Medellín, Colombia. The information was collected through semistructured interviews, made to eight patients in treatment, based on their life stories, in order to understand their emotional state, the adherence process, the psychosocial impact and the quality of life. Results: it was identified that emotions have a high incidence in the life of people with HIV, which determines the different psychosocial processes in which they are immersed. In conclusion, It was found that in this population, the various emotions experienced are regulators of behaviors and habits, but It is also recognized that this emotional exposure exists before, during and after the diagnosis of HIV, where emotions are transverse to the complex process of assuming HIV positive. In addition, the subject of emotions is correlated with relevant aspects such as adherence, quality of life related to health, family and psychosocial impact, matters that in others investigations had been addressed in isolation.REFERENCES
