ABSTRACT
Unequal access to medical care for ischemic disease in women over 60 years of age, without social security, and subject to possible gender inequities in the public health system, can have unfavorable impacts on their health and economy. Information was gathered from women with ischemic heart disease, from 2011 to 2017, from the «Ignacio Chavez» National Institute of Cardiology in Mexico City (n = 1,910). The sample was divided among women from 40 to 60 and from 61 to 96 years old, as the threshold age of coverage of the popular insurance program is 60 years old. Of this group of women, 1,323 (69.26%) older than 60 years could not have access to care with this program. In conclusion, the policy of access to financing for third-level medical care in women over 60 years of age with ischemic disease can be restrictive and limiting.
