ABSTRACT
Introduction: The safety of transfusions is a global priority. It is necessary to determine the transfusional safety with the control of the transfusion chain. The bleeding stations are a fundamental part for the control of quality and safety in this process. Objective: To determine the degree of compliance of NOM-253-SSA1-2012, by the collection centers belonging to a Central Bank of Blood, as part of the evaluations of the Quality Management System. Methodology: Quantitative, descriptive and comparative study in collection centers services of Mexico City. Collection instrument: 330 items checklist based on NOM-253-SSA1-2012 of the processes with observation and interview technique. It was carried out in accordance with the ethical aspects of the research and the informed consent of the participants. Results: The collection stations dependent on the blood bank reached an Acceptable level in its majority. Regarding the index by dimension we have: the information and attention to the donor (acceptable), the pre-donation study (acceptable) and the documentation and quality control (acceptable), sending of units and registration (acceptable); while the donor selection and the extraction and storage are located at the full level. Conclusions: Currently in Mexico, there is no evaluation system that provides data related to the donation processes in collection centers, which translates into a lack of evidence and registration, which contributes to the decision making at the donation process.REFERENCES
