Habit of smoking and obstructive chronic pulmonar disease

ABSTRACT
Introduction: It is very evident the great relationship that has the smocking with the illness, being very few the patients that present obstructive chronic pulmonar disease for other objective causes: This work pretends to evidence the main cause of the obstructive chronic pulmonar disease in our study.
Methods: It was carried out an observational, prospective, longitudinal study, applied to 50 patients that attended the consultation of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the one year period in the Surgical Medical Investigations Center, where it was applied a program of exercises and the smock Index. All the patients were registered in a clinical record. A database was made using the statistical package SPSS 11. 0, it was processed by means of technical descriptive (percentages, mediates, medium, fashion, standard deviation). The final reports of the results were charts and graphics.
Results. It was carried out: The average of annual smock index was of 147, 7 boxes (of 20 cigarettes). there are 13 patients that were not smoking (I activate) and 50 % of the patients had an index of 25 annual boxes, that is to say, they smoked up to 25 boxes in the year. 75 % smoked up to 96 boxes a year. There was a patient that had smock index of 2000 boxes a year (5,47 daily boxes) Like average the patients of the sample smoked among 23 -38,5años, Quantity of cigarettes: the average of cigarettes a day is 18 to 32 cigarettes a day.
Conclusions: It was demonstrated that in general the patient with obstructive chronic pulmonar disease is or you/he/she has been smoking at least of 20 daily cigarettes during 20 years.
