ABSTRACT
The cervical lymphadenitis caused by
Mycobacterium bovis is an underdiagnosed disease in the adult rural population
with risk factors associated with low socioeconomic status, a situation which is extremely important differentiation
from other mycobacteria because of the particular drug resistance of each entity.
M. bovis has proven
natural resistance to pyrazinamide, so the specific determination of antimicrobial susceptibility is essential for the
establishment of an effective treatment. The present case report shows a patient with Streptomycin-resistant
M.
bovis lymphadenopathy and supports the need for an early diagnosis to establish an effective treatment.
