ABSTRACT
Objective: To compare the level of development in the ability for critical reading of researching articles using two strategies in 5th-semester bachelor in nursing students.Methodology: Cuasi-experimental study with two educational strategies to develop a research course in two natural groups. 15 students integrated the experimental group and 12, the control group. Ability to critical reading was conceptualized as the conscience capability to adopt a posture to confront what researching articles, throughout three indicators (interpretation, elaboration of judgments, and elaboration of proposals). Analysis was done with no-parametric statistics (Mann Whitney’s U, peered ranges of Wilcoxon, Mc Nemar, and Kruskall Wallis).
Results: In both groups, students were distributed in levels of aptitude low and very low, before and after educational strategies. On indicators of interpretation and judgment after educational strategies, there was a significant difference between both groups (0.001). The tendency of change was significant into the experimental group (0.001).
Conclusions: Obtained results are alike to those obtained on similar studies. It was considered a favorable experience for the students since it meant their first getting close to the strategy to promote participation.
