ABSTRACT
The pedagogical foundation for the formation in Nutrition of the resident physician on Intensive Care based in the education in the workplace as part of the caring duties he/she is entrusted with is presented in this essay. The pedagogical conception is embedded within the improvement of the Intensive Care residency. The resident physician should be trained in order to provide the severely ill patient with adequate and individualized nutritional support according with the current health condition, which in turn presupposes integration and systematization of selected nutritional contents during his/her transit through the predefined stages of learning. Selected nutritional contents should aim to the solution of different caring issues, and at the same time, draw the resident increasingly near to the professional acting mode. From the foundations of the discussed pedagogical conception an implementation strategy was designed comprising 3 strategic actions, all of them resulting in the redesign of the program of the Intensive Care residency, the reorganization of the training program of the pedagogical cloister of the Intensive Care residency, and the implementation of training workshops. The feasibility of the discussed pedagogical conception, and the strategy designed for its implementation, were assessed by means of experts´s criteria, and the review of the first results achieved after putting into practice their first elements.
