ABSTRACT
We review the relationship between the sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) and relevant depressive and anxious disorders. The prevalence of psychiatric disorders is high in patients with OSAHS. Of the psychiatric disorders, depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder in particular are often associated with OSAHS. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the treatment of choice for patients with moderate and severe OSAHS. Many clinical trials have been done to evaluate the effectiveness of CPAP in these psychiatric disorders.
