Scientific productivity in neurosciences in a national Institute of health of Mexico (1998-2017)

ABSTRACT
Background: The National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery (INNN), founded in 1964, is a center in Mexico dedicated to research, medical assistance and training of resources in neurosciences. However, the scientific productivity in neurosciences in Mexico is very poorly documented.Objective: Present the indicators of scientific productivity and human resources in the INNN from 1998 to 2017.
Materials and methods: We conducted a retrospective study of the annual productivity reports of the Research Direction of the INNN, from 1998-2017.
Results: The number of research projects (+120%), national and international articles (+ 120%), book chapters and complete books published in the INNN showed a progressive increase over time. The number of researcher positions increased by 106% and 95% of the researchers with institutional appointment belong to the National System of Researchers.
Conclusions: The scientific productivity and human resources in neurosciences of the INNN has increased over time.
