ABSTRACT
The purpose of this paper is to characterize bovine anorganic porous bone implants harvested from the distal femoral condyle and processed with a technology developed at the Materials Research Institute, National Autonomous University of Mexico. With this end, the elemental chemical analysis was done, toxic element concentrations and the organic matter content were measured, and sterilization tests were performed. The implants complied with all the requirements of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and thus they can be used in medical practice.
