ABSTRACT
This manuscript presents the results of an inter- and multi-disciplinary analysis on the specification of psychological criteria involved in the technological development of prosthetics. Conducting a general review, medical and engineering standards for the design of prosthetics are gathered, adding psychological-technical standards derived from an interbehavioral approach in psychology. Moreover, a reconceptualization of the participation of Psychology in Engineering and Medicine is made, presenting guidelines for the design and use of prosthetics that function as a bridge between the Physics and Health areas involved. Finally, a reflection on the economic and social aspects involved in the commercialization of prosthetics as well as their functional and cosmetic use is made.REFERENCES
