ABSTRACT
Dr. Arturo Bouzas Riaño was born in Xalapa, Ver. He would pursue a career in psychology at the School of Psychology of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the UNAM, where he would participate in the promotion and consolidation of experimental psychology at UNAM. He taught experimental psychology at the Faculty of Psychology of the Universidad Veracruzana. He completed postgraduate studies at the State University of New York and a Doctorate at Harvard University, as well as a post-doctorate at the University of Toronto. He has obtained the highest recognitions from the scientific community at national and international level as well as at the UNAM, being the Director of the Faculty of Psychology (1997-2001) perhaps the most significant. In this talk he gives us a little knowledge of his family life and his childhood, as well as the decision to study psychology, his student life at UNAM, his experience in Xalapa, as well as his return to Mexico in 1974. Speaks of the contrasts in the teaching of psychology between the university systems of the US and Mexico, the current state of the discipline and the training of the psychologist.
