ABSTRACT
The hair follicle is considered an immunological model not
completely elucidated. From the clinical models to the now
a days molecular advances, we continue without completely
understanding the immunological machinery. The anatomical
characteristics, the low to null expression on MHC-II and the
microenvironment provided by hormones, neuropeptides and
immunomodulatory cytokines enhance this immunological
privileged environment. This lost goes further than the balance
between innate and acquired immunity. The auto reactivity
against own and unknown antigens, the induction against melanic
antigens, the inhibition of immune control and the intestinal
microbiome status are novel key pieces of this puzzle.
