ABSTRACT
Introduction: Chikungunya fever is an emerging disease that has spread from Africa to the islands of the Indian Ocean, India, Southeast Asia, Europe and recently, to the Americas, where it arrived across the Caribbean islands causing a large epidemic magnitude. In July 2014 in Bolivia, Chikungunya virus circulation was demonstrated for the first time, registering the first three cases imported from the disease in Santa Cruz, and to date there have been confirmed cases for this emerging and reemerging virus. Methodology: Descriptive cross-sectional study involving 15324 suspected cases of Chikungunya virus in CENETROPMINISTERIO DE SALUD 6934 serum samples using PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) and Mac-ELISA techniques. For the processing of the information was used the software Microsoft Excel where all the analysis of the data of the population was realized. Results: A total of 6934 samples were obtained from patients presenting with febrile symptoms and polyarticular pain that came to CENETROP-MINISTERIO DE SALUD during the years 2015, 2016 and management I of 2017, obtaining a positive result of 2537 confirmed cases for Chikungunya virus, 4158 negative cases and 239 inconclusive cases in acute phase patients who did not yet have antibodies. Conclusion: It was evidenced that the department that most cases of Chikungunya reported was Santa Cruz because it presents a high migratory flow of people and a tropical climate, suitable environment for the Aedes aegypti vector to live and reproduce.REFERENCES
