ABSTRACT
In the last 30 years not only have significant progress in the genetic
and physiological aspects of dystonia but the diagnostic, classification
and treatment approach. For years, oral medications were used
exclusively, with the introduction of botulinum toxin and deep brain
stimulation, in addition to advances in the understanding of the
disease, it has had a positive impact on the quality of life of those who
suffer from it and their families. In this article, we will carry out an
integral update of the dystonia from its definition, phenomenology,
classification, etiology, and treatment.
