ABSTRACT
There’s a huge need for people who are drugs abusers to be
treated with evidence based programs, therefore training therapists
in this kind of programs is crucial. Online training it’s a viable
option which is cost effective for technology transfer and
that’s why the UNAM designed an online addiction specialization
including a module of the breve intervention program for
adolescents that are starting the use of alcohol and other drugs
(PIBA) (Martínez, Salazar, Ruiz, Barrientos y Ayala, 2005,
2009, 2012), which is an evidence based program. This paper
analyses the evaluation of the health professionals of the online
training process of the PIBA module, to prove the platform’s efficiency
on the technology transfer process. The use of the
online platform was successful, proving online training is a viable
and relevant solution which allows the diffusion of intervention
programs to more therapists at a lower cost and, therefore,
allows a better attention to the community which is affected with
drug abuse.
