Preparation of tutors for the training of skills for patients’ classification

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the ability to classify the individuals and families is a fundamental professional skill to work in Primary Health Care.Objective: to characterize the preparation of primary health care tutors to train the skills to classify individuals and families in medical students.
Method: a descriptive and cross-sectional research was carried out at Luis Augusto Turcios Lima University Polyclinic during the academic year 2016-2017. The target group was comprised of 16 categorized tutors teaching education at work in medical studies, Comprehensive Medicine subject, the chosen sample corresponded to the target group. Theoretical methods such as historical and empirical were used, as well as the documentary review of the methodological work plans for Comprehensive Medicine subject and the academic year of the groups, interviews with the tutors and the observation of educational activities in the workplace; procedures of descriptive statistics were applied.
Results: the training of patients’ classification skill is not part of the methodological guidelines, and the tutors recognized their insufficient basis to develop this skill, which was confirmed during the observation of the activities in the education of work.
Conclusions: the diagnosis confirmed the tutors of Primary Health Care presented pedagogical insufficiencies to carry out the training of skills to characterize persons and families in medical students, it is necessary to increase the professorial preparation of the aspects related to this topic.
