ABSTRACT
Introduction: Injuries of the external genitalia in children and adolescents are infrequent, and
predominate closed over open ones.
Objective: The objective of this work is to report a case with a
transfixing scrotal trauma.
Clinical Case: It is presented the case of a 14-year-old male patient who was
admitted to the pediatric surgery service of the Pediatric Hospital Sur of Santiago de Cuba, after suffering
a fall astride over the branch of a tree that caused a transfixing trauma at the level of the scrotum.
Conclusions: Although the initial clinical impression was of a serious injury, no lesions of the testicle, epididymis, or spermatic cord were found during surgery. The immediate postoperative evolution was
satisfactory and he was discharged at the fifth day. Nowadays, the patient has not presented aesthetic or
functional sequelae as a consequence of the injury.
