ABSTRACT
Introduction: The video-assisted surgery began in Hospital Pediátrico Universitario "William Soler" since 1993; and at the Urology service in 2002.
Methods: Observational, longitudinal, and retrospective research was made. All the patients with urological disease that were treated by laparoscopic surgery since the 2002 to 2014 were included. The topics analyzed were: hospitalization, age, sex, relation between surgery time and the surgical techniques realized, prior diagnostic and laparoscopic techniques were made, complications until one year later of follow-up.
Results: 122 patients were admitted, 14 (11.47%) females, 107 (87.7 %) males, 1 (0. 81 %) hermaphrodite. Less than 24 hours of hospitalizations were the 72.95 %. Less than 40 minutes were the surgical time (73.7 %), because the majority of surgical techniques were spermatic's veins ligature (52.49 %) and diagnostic laparoscopic procedures (16.39 %). No complications were in 91.9 % patients, and conversions to open surgery only were needed in two patients. The 92.6 % of the patients were without surgical complications.
Conclusions: The pediatric urological laparoscopic surgery is applicable in all pediatrics ages, and offer few complications.
