ABSTRACT
Introduction: Calendula officinalis L., or flower of the dead, as it is commonly known, is a medicinal plant approved by the Ministry of Public Health for its proven biological activity and although it has indications in different conditions of the oral cavity does not exist in our country a specific pharmaceutical form for this purpose, so there is a need to look for pharmaceutical forms with natural active ingredients that guarantee adherence to treatment by the patient and satisfactory clinical developments in stomatological treatment, with an acceptable pharmaceutical quality Objective: to establish preliminary form the parameters of quality control in the soft extract of the flowers of Calendula officinalis L. for stomatological use. Methods: An experimental study of longitudinal cut and prospective data collection was carried out in order to elaborate a soft extract and establish its quality parameters according to the established norms. Results: the proposed parameters were: total solids 34.4 - 35.2%; relative density 1.080 -1.106 g / mL; pH 4.84-5.03; total ashes 1.28 -1.30%, among others. Conclusions: the results obtained are preliminary parameters to perform quality controls and standardize this new natural extract for use as an active ingredient in pharmaceutical preparations for stomatological use.
