Clinical-epidemiological characterization of hypertension at doctor's office 21

ABSTRACT
Introduction: High blood pressure is a very common condition and the main factor related to mortality worldwide. High blood pressure is defined as the elevation of systolic blood pressure to 140 mmHg or more, or diastolic to 90 mmHg or more, or both values inclusive. Objective: to characterize hypertension clinically and epidemiologically in the doctor´s office number 21 of the Popular Council Entronque de Herradura, in the Consolacion del Sur municipality, in the period between April 2017 and September 2017. Method: A descriptive study was carried out, of cross section. The universe was made up of all the patients dispensed by the doctor's office. Prior informed consent a questionnaire was applied to the patients. Results: 57.25% of the hypertensive patients belonged to the female sex, the interval of 50-59 years represented 30.54%, 40.46% of the patients had a relative hypertensive, 28.24% of the patients smoked, they suffered from diabetes mellitus 25.95%, 62.59% belonged to the white race. 68.70% used monotherapy. Conclusions: There was a prevalence below what was expected for arterial hypertension. Diabetes mellitus, overweight and hereditary factors increase the risk of suffering from this disease. In higher percentage patients use monotherapy as a treatment and have a high degree of adherence.
