Educational intervention to the patients with level of inadequate knowledge on arterial hypertension

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Arterial hypertension is a global health problem, the lack of knowledge of patients about their pathology, interferes with their quality of life and increases the indicators of morbidity and mortality due to this cause. Objectives: to implement a community educational intervention strategy to improve the level of knowledge of arterial hypertension that patients had in the Campo Florido polyclinic. Method: We conducted a study, quasi-experimental community intervention in hypertensive patients, the universe was constituted by 101 and the sample by 40 patients, a survey was applied before and after, using the statistical percentage method and the results were presented in tables. Results: Patients between 60 and 64 years of age were predominantly female. Before the intervention, the level of knowledge about the use of medications and MNT had an evaluation of regular reverting afterwards; the risk factors, the diet had a bad evaluation before the intervention and afterwards, only the clinical manifestations behaved well before and after the intervention; they did not have adequate global knowledge of the disease, then improved in 100% of the patients. Conclusion: Adequate knowledge of hypertension was modified and the number of patients with high blood pressure was reduced.
