ABSTRACT
Staphylococcus aureus is a ubiquitous bacterium that, due to its taxonomic characteristics, is classified as a Gram-positive, facultative, aerobic coccus, which has the microscopic characteristic of growing in the form of clusters.
Staphylococcus aureus infection can occur at the level of different organs ranging from skin, bone, joints, respiratory system, etc. In this case report we present the case of a 72-year-old female patient who was treated with corticosteroids by pontine myelinolysis, who was diagnosed with meticillin-sensitive
Staphylococcus aureus pneumonia after her discharge, with remission after treatment with cefepime and clindamycin. Subsequently she presented with cellulitis and septic arthritis secondary to bacteremia due to
Staphylococcus aureus methicillin-sensitive, with definitive treatment based on Daptomycin, with remission of infection. The objective is to conduct a review for bacteremia due to
Staphylococcus aureus approach and treatment.
