Portal vein, Early anticoagulation.

ABSTRACT

The portal thrombosis is the obstruction of the portal vein trunk, which is considered multifactorial and may extend into the splenic or mesenteric branches. We present the case of a 32-year female patient with oppressive severe epigastric pain irradiating to anterior hemithorax and anterior chest and in band, which increases in the lateral decubitus position. Bloating, constipation, nausea and headache presented with food intake. Diagnosis of irritable bowel syndrome and infectious gastroenteritis is issued. Interventional treatment of portal-mesenteric thrombosis reduces mortality, improves symptoms and prevents intestinal resection, to a greater extent than monotherapy with anticoagulation.
