Characterization diagnostic for the prevention of the addiction to the tobacco in adolescents

ABSTRACT
Introduction: the prevention of addiction to smoking in adolescents is an essential element in the current educational process from the health professionals themselves. Objective: to characterize diagnostically to prevent addiction to smoking in adolescents belonging to the Teaching Polyclinic "José Ramón León Acosta" of Santa Clara municipality from January to December 2016. Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out, where a universe of 80 was left a sample of 41 active smoking adolescents. Empirical methods were used such as: interview, questionnaire and review of individual medical records. Results: in the studied sample the male sex predominated, 51.2% of the adolescent smokers had ages between 13 and 15 years of age, 78% of them started the addiction to the cigar between the 12 and 15 years. The most frequent causes of why this addiction began were the relaxation and presence of at least one parent with addiction to smoking. It was shown that the children of parents addicted to cigarettes start smoking at younger ages (12 to 15 years), which represents 29% of the adolescents in the study, those who smoke more frequently at parties. The most common way of acquiring cigars is in state stores and street vendors, the way in which cigarettes are acquired by 61% of these adolescents. Conclusions: the main causes of addiction to smoking in adolescence are related to the attitudes assumed by the parents and the psychosocial pressure in active smoking adolescent groups.
