ABSTRACT
Introduction: In women, it is suggested that a figure with a waist-hip ratio (WHR) of 0.7 corresponds
to an optimal fat distribution indicating greater fertility and is more attractive to men. However, there
have been other preferences in relation ICC by men of different populations.
Material and methods:
Cross-sectional study. 101 college men were interviewed 20 to 30 years old. He was asked to indicate
the most attractive silhouette using scale Rozmus-Wrezeniska (2014) having two rows of 5 silhouettes
each with change in the ICC 0.6 to 0.8 while maintaining the same hip circumference in the top row and
waist circumference on the bottom row.
Results: When was varied waist circumference without
changing the hip circumference, 32.6% of men found an ICC of 0.6 on women as more attractive (P
‹0.0001). When hip was varied without changing the waist, 20.7% saw a 0.6 ICC as more attractive (P
‹0.0001). It was also found that 82.1% preferred a fat distribution in women in the area of hips and legs.
Discussion: a group of university students from 20-30 years old perceives the ICC 0.6 in women as more
attractive. A narrower waist circumference is preferred even though hip size varies or does not change.
Young women prefer a greater distribution of fat in the hips and legs.
