ABSTRACT

The construction of an arteriovenous fistula is a surgical procedure that connects a vein to an artery to create a vascular access for hemodialysis. It is frequently performed on upper limbs, however, on some occasions this surgery cannot be accomplished so it must be done on lower limbs, a very uncommon procedure. A review of the literature is made and the surgical technique is presented.
