ABSTRACT
Introduction: The examination through suprapubic via was during a long time, the only method for exploring pelvis, after obtaining vesicular filling spontaneously, in order to use bladder as the acoustic window and, at the same time, displacing intestinal gas towards the upper portion of the abdomen. To explore inner female reproductive organs, there were methods such as: pneumopelvimetry and salpingography.
Material and method: All women, excepting nubile patients who attend our service, are explored via endovaginal and the study through suprapubic via is made as a complement. Cancer in ovaries is the seventh most frequent type of cancer and the fourth cause of death in American women. The risk of having cancer in the ovaries during a woman’s life is 1:58 and the risk of having cancer and die from a cancer in ovary is 1:98 . Discovering an ovarian mass always suggests the diagnosis for a malign neoplasia.
Conclusions: In reproductive ages, female patients ovarian masses are mostly benign. Follicles and hemorrhagic cysts only require follow up. When a mass show an undetermined nature or character, and characteristics suggest a neoplasia, or in presence of an ovarian mass, the study should be followed up with biological markers, Computerized Tomography, magnetic resonance or PET-CT.
